Seth Meyers is understandably puzzled to learn that several Trump cabinet nominees, slated for confirmation by the Senate, have failed to complete their basic FBI background checks. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who demanded the completion of all ethics and background checks for Obama nominees, doesn’t seem too concerned now.
The Trump cabinet vetting seems particularly weak, as the Late Night host notes, in a case like Rick Perry, who will take over the Energy Department and its responsibility for our nuclear arsenal — despite his “C” grades in high school physics and chemistry.
And then there’s Jefferson Beauregard Sessions, who said he liked the Klan until he found out that some of their hooded goons smoke weed. (He was only kidding!)
